Audi Q3 fastest-selling used car in October as petrols and smaller SUVs dominate the top 10

The petrol Audi Q3 was the UK’s fastest-selling used car according to vehicle pricing experts Indicata, part of Autorola Group, as smaller SUVs remain the consumer’s favourite.

The Audi Q3 petrol sold on average at 44 days closely followed by the Toyota C-HR petrol, Kia Sportage petrol, Mercedes-Benz A Class petrol and Renault Captur diesel all at 45 days.

Stocking days have remained consistent since July between 43 and 47 days reinforcing the health and pace of the used market.

The average price of the Audi Q3 stock sold in the market was £26,305, the highest average recorded during 2019 which suggests some motorists are downsizing from larger SUVs to smaller prestige models.

Overall out of the 90,269 used cars recorded by the Indicata real time pricing platform, SUVs comprise 55% of the top 10, with hatchbacks the remaining 45%, while petrol powertrains comprise 85%, and diesel make up the remaining 15%.

“October was another buoyant used car month with demand and prices strong. Despite the increased number of dealer part exchanges creeping into the market from the September plate stocking days have remained consistent,” explained Neil Gilligan, Indicata UK’s business development manager.

‘In contrast to September’s strong diesel representation, petrol powertrains dominated the October top 10, but generally we are still seeing strong demand for all fuel types as the used market continues to grow,” he added.

Used cars qualify for Indicata’s top 10 by models having to be between 6-36 months old and having sold a minimum of 300 units during the month.
